You create an account and the products come directly to you. The annual membership fee for an online account is 20 euros. The amount is not applicable for all kits or for orders over 150PV In the shopping cart we created for you, the membership free is free. However, you are welcome to delete the featured products and select others if you want something different than what we have put in the shopping cart. We love essential oils. They are powerful companions in our daily lives. But what are essential oils exactly, and how are they extracted? You will find many answers below.
Essential oils arecomplex mixturesderived from plants. They are highly volatile and very small, allowing them to easily penetrate through the skin and even through our cell walls. They are not oily themselves, but lipophilic, meaning they have an affinity for fats, allowing them to be easily diluted with carrier oils. Because they are so volatile, they disperse rapidly in the air, and we can smell them very quickly. The multi-component mixtures vary from species to species and even from plant to plant because various influences are important: Climate, location, time of harvest, soil conditions and more.
The essential oils contain secondary plant substances from flowers, leaves, seeds, fruit peel, roots, resins, bark or wood and can help the plant to attract insects for pollination, keep pests away, communicate, secure its location or protect itself against diseases.
The essential oils of citrus peel, actually called essences, are obtained by cold pressing. The essential oils are found in the visible oil glands in the peel. If these are crushed, the essential oil is released. You experience this yourself when you peel an orange or a tangerine.
Most other essential oils are obtained through steam distillation. Depending on the plant material, this process can occur very quickly or take several days.
